  • "I benefited SO MUCH from the generosity of the financial aid program.  I could never have imagined going to a school like University High School given my parents jobs in the education and non-profit sectors.  Coming from a public middle school, it was the little things that were so memorable — an envelope with a voucher for taking the SAT, for example — were always so thoughtful.  The financial aid program’s values and the academic values of the school seemed so aligned to me as a teenager."

  • "In early October 1976, my father was diagnosed with cancer and we lost him before Thanksgiving that same year. UHS immediately offered me a scholarship for my entire four years. My UHS education led to a newspaper career of more than 30 years that included numerous awards and the Presidency of the State Press Association. Now it has carried me into the nonprofit sector. Scholarship made it feasible to continue at UHS, and provided continuity in a time of great personal tumult and I cannot overstate my gratitude."

Over the past few years, to support an ever-increasing commitment to lowering the barrier to access for strong candidates in need of financial assistance, UHS has boldly increased the financial aid budget at a rate significantly higher than our average tuition increase.

To maintain this level of financial aid support and keep pace with peer schools that have made similar commitments, we continue to invest in Decorator Showcase for sustaining and growing our funding beyond the current operating budget.

Since 1977, the San Francisco Decorator Showcase has raised over $19 million to benefit the San Francisco University High School financial aid program. Help give deserving Bay Area students access to a world-class college preparatory education.

UHS is committed to building a community that reflects and embraces the great diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area. This year the UHS Financial Aid program is providing over $5.4 million in grants to 23% of the student body, with average grants covering 73% of tuition.
