Nature Always Wins
Our room is a study of the dichotomy between the strength and fragility of our natural world. The design captures the hopeful moment of nature’s reemergence and rebirth following a destructive event, such as a wildfire. Our favorite feature of the design is its focus on California-based manufacturers and artists.
The Phoenix Console Table by Aderyn Studio is hand-carved and torched to a matte black finish. The solid wood legs are salvaged urban lumber from Santa Cruz County, and the top is limestone from Da Vinci Marble. Together these represent the fire and earth elements of the room.
The wall covering by MJ Atelier, called Papillons and Branches, features hand painted and hand-formed three-dimensional butterflies, gilded with 23-karat gold and white gold. The butterflies represent the air element of the room.
The Daci Powder Stools by David Copello Guild and “Hotwire” upholstery by Michelle Pereira Studio are a stellar combination, and their metallic qualities are complemented by the 22-karat gold La Mer chandelier by Paul Ferrante, which represents the water element within the room.
