No Drama Llama

Design Inspiration
This space is a Jack & Jill bathroom and we set out to create a design that was both classic and whimsical. Conceived as a colorful and gender-neutral space, the central design element is a hand cut mosaic tile featuring foxes and llamas prancing across a background of semi-precious jeweled glass.  The pattern brings rhythm and movement to a small space and evokes a sense of elevated child’s play, but as we know sharing a bathroom with siblings is hard – so #nodramalama really applies here 🙂

Highlights
Conceived as a colorful and gender-neutral space, the central element in the room’s design is an exquisite hand cut mosaic tile featuring playful foxes and llamas prancing across a background of semi-precious Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Citrine and Ruby jeweled glass.  The enchanting pattern brings rhythm and movement to a small space and evokes a sense of elevated child’s play.

A red lacquered vanity with bamboo accents grounds the room with sophistication. I believe vanities can be beautiful and practical. No detail was left behind – If you open the vanity door you will find a darling playful wallpaper lining the inside. This was custom designed with The C.E.H.

The window treatments were designed with a crisp white linen and bright red trim to add a classic tailored element to the space. We wanted something playful but not too over-the-top to complement the ornately patterned walls.

While window treatments may have a primary purpose of blocking light and adding privacy, they also are a very powerful design feature and can completely transform a room. The treatments we chose for the Jack and Jill bathroom bring both of elements together – they beautifully finish the room and add privacy where it’s needed most.

Light Fixtures
Sconces – Coleen & Company.

Custom pleated sconce shades – Fabric by Shumacher and fabrication by Paul Ferrante.

These sconces were a custom collaboration between us and Coleen & Company. We worked with Coleen and modified a glass sconce to have a custom pleated shade. We choose a red ticking stripe fabric that would pop on the tile without competing with the large-scale tile pattern.

Furniture
Vanity: Custom designed by The C.E.H.

Plumbing: Kohler “Bancroft” collection.
