Design Space #8

Design Inspiration
Our client’s dressing room was inspired by her work as an international stylist who is known for effortlessly fusing couture with avant-garde. Her timeless elegance and sophistication informed the material and color palettes, and her femininity and confident edge imbue the room’s ambiance. The soft curves of the furnishings contrast angled architectural elements, and lustrous materials support lush textures. It’s a place for her to enjoy her passion and curate her personal collection.

Highlights
Applegate Tran Interiors specified the perfect space for our client to not only store and select her large collection of clothing, shoes, jewelry, and cosmetics but to enjoy and spend time with it all. Since our client spent so much time collecting and curating her wardrobe she deserves a room that is just as thought out and deliberate; a room that she can be alone in or can host friends in and show her beautifully displayed items. This is a space that goes far beyond the traditional closet, it is a room to enjoy. Elegant and etherial. Edgy and Fun. It is the room in her home that she spends most of her time in.

The deliberately appointed storage in this room didn’t leave out a single item from her personal collection. From the leather wrapped floor-to-ceiling closet system, the custom jewelry cabinet built specifically for the her personal items, to the vanity drawers at her glam desk – each of her personal items has a specific place with a deliberate finish that either holds it in place or highlights it’s beauty. Leather wrapped dividers hold her smaller clothing items in the ideal position, LED lit drawers and casings make selecting the perfect piece simple, and the semi-opaque cabinetry in the center of the room displays her bags and purses without being too garish. There are simple but stunning display areas and smartly concealed case-goods, all to accentuate the clients attention to detail.

Lighting is one of the hidden but most important details of the space. The recessed lighting in the ceiling with the glass casing detail helps diffuse the direct light and create a soft elegant glow in the room. Backlit mirrors at the vanity wall, makeup mirror, and shoe display create a diaphanous glow in the room. LED lit drawers and closet systems help highlight the important details that are required when putting together every element of the perfect ensemble.
